Razzle Dazzle Jolly Bar Quilt
Hello and what a great day to sew something wonderful!
Today we are going to be working on a cute little quilt top from our friends over at FatQuarterShop.
Materials needed for this tutorial:
1 Jolly Bar
1 coordinating Solid charm pack
In a sew sampler box in 2016 I received an adorable new precut called a Jolly Bar. These are 5
by 10 inch strips. I also got the It’s Sew Emma pattern book “Jolly Bar Quilts vol.1” if you haven’t
picked this up yet I’d encourage you to do so! There are such cute patterns in here that all go together in a snitch.
So let’s take this one stitch at a time…
First, draw a diagonal line on all of your charm pack squares. This will be your sew line.
Next, pick out 20 prints from your Jolly Bar. On opposite corners, line up a charm square on each.
Head over to the sewing machine.
With a 1/4 inch seam allowance sew on your diagonal line.
Cut 1/4 inch away from the outside of your sewn unit.
Your Jolly Bar should now have a diagonal print running through the middle and solid on each opposite corner.
Now let’s assemble our quilt top!
Starting with a full Jolly Bar strip (JB), alternate sewn units (SU).
For example your first row will be
JB SU JB SU JB SU
Your second row will look like
SU JB SU JB SU JB
Continue for 10 rows
Sew each row together.
How does your quilt top look? Mine turned out at 38 1/2 by 45 1/2 perfect for a crib!!!
